London’s Royal Docks
"We have been working with Bullet PR for the past three years and I couldn’t recommend them more highly. They have become an integral part of our team and have really got to understand our business. They are full of creative and effective ideas and have a commitment and enthusiasm that has delivered outstanding results for us"
Mike Luddy, Managing Director / The Royal Docks Management Authority
London’s Royal Docks form the largest enclosed docks in the world. Once London’s principal docks, the area is in the process of undergoing a regeneration that will see it become an exciting and distinctive new place for London. Bullet PR has been retained by the Royal Docks for the last 3 years, with a PR brief to build awareness of the area, highlight the wealth of attractions, change perceptions and support stakeholder activities. In addition we were asked to create PR initiatives that would highlight the historical significance of the Royal Docks as it undergoes a major transformation.
We devised a communications strategy that included traditional media relations, a social media campaign, content creation and a monthly email newsletter. One of the centrepiece campaigns has been the Forgotten Stories heritage project, which recalls the Forgotten Stories of the characters and events that shaped the Royal Docks.
We put out a call in the media for people who had lived and worked around the docks with interesting stories to tell. We then filmed those people telling their stories in their own words, creating a historical record of this unique area of London now on the brink of a major redevelopment. The resulting films were introduced with major PR campaign targeting London and national media and a launch event at London’s Crystal.
Twenty-eight Forgotten Stories have to date been documented. They tell the honest, amusing and often shocking tales of a life of genuine hardship, which until now have remained untold. The Forgotten Stories project reflects the influence the heritage of the area will have on the exciting future of the Royal Docks.
BBC’s Huw Edwards described the Forgotten Stories campaign as
"An important project, bringing the history and heritage of London’s Royal Docks to a global audience."
