Design agency Smorgasbord has just been nominated for the prestigious Beazley Designs of the Year at the Design Museum for their work on behalf of the Welsh Government developing the Wales Nation brand.

All shortlisted nominees will have their work displayed or represented at the Design Museum during the Beazley Designs of the Year exhibition, which opens 18 October 2017 and runs until 28 January 2018.

The company also recently won two awards at the European Design Awards 2017.  They were awarded the Gold award in the typography category for their Cymru Wales Sans typeface along with the prestigious Best of Show Gold for overall design across all categories.

The Cymru Wales Sans bespoke typeface was created by Smörgåsbord as part of a wider commission from the Welsh Government. The brief was to develop a contemporary multifunctional brand identity with the aim of elevating Wales’s international profile.

In addition to the bespoke typeface, Smörgåsbord’s bold and confident approach towards developing the Wales brand also included a fresh visual identity incorporating a core marque, as well as tone of voice and photography guidelines. The Wales brand campaign features a contemporary rendering of the familiar dragon icon that re-establishes the link with Wales’ national flag.

Bullet PR will be working with the agency raising their profile within key design and trade publications on current and on going projects.
